Milestones and Measures of Success
The project foresees the following milestones:
Project inception completed (M3)
- All management mechanisms are in place, including quality control, risk management, internal communications and reporting.
Requirement analysis and System Specification Completed (M8)
- All information needed to start implementation work has been collected: implementation work can start.
Business modelling defined (M18)
- Market survey completed. Initial internal IPR agreement reached. Business model defined. Full exploitation activities can start.
Major platform component have been implemented (M21)
- The integration of an initial version of METABO Platform can be started.
Measures of success:
- Early identification of hypoglycemic situations and alerting
- High reliability and efficiency of the implemented integrated equipment and software components
- Non-invasive and easy to use system to be accepted and appreciated by final users
- Interoperability and integration of monitoring devices from different providers.
METABO Platform completed (M27)
- All METABO Platform components and functions are completed: full integration can start. Pilot Experience can start on a reduced version of the Platform.
Measures of success:
- Modelling algorithms applicable and verifiable with the real data from patient’s monitoring
- Assessment of parameters for an effective modelling process.
Platform integration completed (M36)
- Pilot Experience can continue on the full METABO Platform
Measures of success:
- Implemented closed-loop between patient, health professional and hospital
- Faster and more effective therapy adjustment, improvement in patient’s care organization
- More accurate recording of patients’ health data.
Project Completed (M42)
- METABO Platform fully validated. Socioeconomic, organizational and ethical guidelines available. Launch of the METABO paradigma can start.
Measures of success:
- The success will be measured by comparing the results of METABO against current clinical practice and objective efficacy of monitoring and care processes (reduction of hypoglycemic episodes, stabilization of blood glucose levels, and increased patient’s compliance to therapy).
