
A special occasion for achieving broad visibility for METABO was offered by the World of Health IT 2010 that took place in Barcelona, Spain between March 15 and 18 of 2010 (http://www.worldofhealthit.org/). A METABO poster was exposed at the Medtronic booth, where information was provided about the project to medical professionals and representatives of health adminitration.

The theme for World Diabetes Day for 2009–2013 is Diabetes Education and Prevention. This broad and long-term theme will allow all diabetes stakeholders to take part in the campaign. The broadest possible alliance of stakeholders is required to make World Diabetes Day a global success.

The aim the II World Congress of Public Health Nutrition to be the forum for the presentation and discussion of the most recent advances in human nutrition and its intimate relationships to health and wellbeing of the world populations.

METABO had a strong presence at the EMBC2010 conference on Aug 31-Sept 4, at Buenos Aires. Project achievements were presented in various sessions such as signal processing, eHealth and Personal Health Systems. The topics of the presentations included the results of research work investigating the needs on diabetes care, continuos telemonitoring systems for diabetes care improvement, patient education and coaching services.. The Europa Hotel, Belfast was the venue for this international gathering of key practitioners, thought leaders and other professionals in the field of Connected Health. Delegates enjoyed a comprehensive programme, addressing key challenges faced by organisations responsible for providing care and funding remote monitoring solutions. The Summit was about communicating experiences, transferring knowledge and identifying the pathways to bring a Connected Health vision to reality.

Innovation in Health Technology plays an increasingly important role in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of chronic patients. Proof of this fact, the Hospital Universitario La Fe will host the conference "Innovation as key to improving care and quality of life of chronic patients”.

This year's workshop focused how to face the health care needs in the near future. A primary focus was user centred development and successful implementations. Our intension was to demonstrate successful technology implementation at hospitals and in the health care sector, and present and discuss new possibilities and solutions of tomorrow.

Those days featured a wide-range of world-class companies/organizations, and government entities all striving to integrate care across cities, regions and countries across the globe. This Symposium brought together health professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, policy makers, health ministries and commission members as they prepare for the next step towards personalized care organizations.
